METIS NA TION Of ONT ARIO Annu A l Repo R t 20122013 65 m e TI s n a TI on of o n T ar I o b ran CH es e du C a TI on and Tra I n I n G T he Metis Nation of Ontario MNO Education and T raining Branch is driven by the priorities of the MNO s Statement of Prime Purpose and is committed to the strategic goal of healthy thriving individu als families and communities It of fers a full range of skills development employment and educa tional initiatives to Metis people acr oss Ontario The MNO has been delivering employment and train ing ser vices and supports thr ough the branch since 1996 when it frst signed ongoing agr eements with Human Resour ces and Skills Development Canada Over the past number of years thr ough an expanded partnership with the pr ovince of Ontario and addi tional funding for sector focused skills development pr ojects the size and scope of ser vices and supports of fer ed by the MNO has expanded The MNO has ef fectively incr eased industr y partnerships educational outr each capacity Metis community engagement opportunities and has implemented a number of new pr ograms and ser vices to support Metis on their path to education and employment Pr ograms and ser vices ar e accessible thr ough a communitybased pr ovince wide one stop deliver y network A lar ge per centage of operations focus on dir ect employment and training client ser vice deliver y however the scope and deliver y parameters var y depending on funding mandates MNO s employment and training ser vices ar e funded by Human Resour ces and Skills Development Canada thr ough its Aboriginal Skills and Employment T raining Strategy ASETS and focus on thr ee main priorities demand driven skills development partnerships and accountability for impr oved r esults In or der to meet these identifed priorities the MNO has paid special attention to str engthening its pr ogram policies r eporting systems and assessment pr ocedur es While the MNO was one of the only ASETS funded agencies acr oss Canada to wit encourage academic and skills development and to enable citizens of the Metis Nation to attain their educational aspirations Fr om the Metis Nation of Ontario Statement of Prime Purpose n umber of s taf f 34 s taf f located in f ort f rances d ryden Hamilton Kingston Midland n orth Bay o ttawa Sault Ste Marie Sudbury t hunder Bay t immins and t or onto b ran CH de T a I ls rEP or t S
