100 METIS NA TION Of ONT ARIO Annu A l Repo R t 20122013 Commun IC a TI ons b ran CH I n keeping with the Metis Nation of Ontario MNO Statement of Prime Purpose the MNO maintains ef fec tive means of communications that r efect the histor y and traditions of the Metis Nation and r espect the wealth of cr eativity that has emer ged thr ough the MNO since 1993 The MNO has the following com munication goals Communicate that the MNO is the gover nment of Metis people in Ontario Communicate that the MNO is Metis specifc in its focus Communicate that the MNO is pr ofessional and pursues excellence Assist MNO citizens seeking to use MNO ser vices Generate unity among MNO citizens and employees s ervices The Communication Branch supports the MNO thr ough the following ser vices Identity management for all MNO communications vehicles Graphic design and cr eative dir ection for MNO publications and other media as r equested Maintains updates designs and adds new featur es to the MNO website Solicits quotes fr om print and other media companies as r equested Coor dinates weekly communications liaison meetings with r epr esentatives of all branches Pr epar es and distributes MNO pr ess r eleases and media advisories as r equir ed Liaises with media to set up inter views with MNO leadership as r equir ed Published the Metis V oyageur fve times a year Publishes eV oyageur enewsletter appr oximately 24 times a year Encourage MNO citizens and employees to submit stories for use of MNO website eV oyageur and Metis V oyageur newspaper and edits submitted stories Monitors media and online news stories for items r elevant to the MNO Maintains and utilizes as needed Campaigner email distribution lists of MNO citizens MNO community council members PCMNO national contacts and speciality lists as r equir ed Advises gover nance and administration on communication issues as r equested Recent notable achievements In July 2012 the MNO Facebook page was launched The page has gr own steadily and as of June 30 the MNO Facebook page had 508 fans The number of news stories posted on the MNO website which also appears in the Metis V oyageur and eV oyageur has incr eased to 162 articles in 201213 compar ed to 156 in 201112 W ebsite visitors have incr eased by 73 per cent with 105351 website visitors in the 201213 fscal year compar ed to 76786 in 201112 b ran CH de T a I ls Funder t he following branches contribute funding to support the c ommunications Branch services Education and T raining Healing and W ellness Lands Resour ces and Consultations and Inter gover nmental r elations n umber of s taf f 4 s taf f located in o ttawa e ligible Clientele M no citizens establish effective means of communications for the Metis Nation Fr om the Metis Nation of Ontario Statement of Prime Purpose
