Marie is in her 4 y ear with the Maljohn Gr oup. A brief History of Maljohn Company In 1976 the North American Grain Handling Industry used a miniscule amount of plastic in its elev ators. Cargill had dev eloped their Rhinohyde Urethane for impact problems and w e saw the first emergence of UHMW in drag conv ey ors (flights or paddles). At the time plastic w as only used in liners; Maljohn dev eloped and refined the technique to “heat form” UHMW and other Thermo- plastics materials. Plastic sheet from 1/8” to ?” thick w as precut to size, heated in infra-red ov ens, then tw o dimensionally formed and cooled into round spouts; (then up to 15” diameter) W e make the structure out of the UHMW eliminating 65% of the w eight of the w eight of a steel spout. Maljohn w as the first company to dev elop this process. Ov er the past 35 y ears Maljohn has dev eloped many component parts for drag, screw and belt conv ey ors; U trough liners, Flight edging and facing, square and rectangular formed spouts and chute head and boot liners. Maljohn now makes more than 50 w ear parts for farm equipment. Maljohns' products are shipped throughout North and South America, P acific Rim and many parts of the w orld. Maljohn Company commenced operations in March of 1976; originally as Mal Johnson Associates; it w as formed as a company to innov ate, create and sell new plastic products for the improv ed handling of grain, fertilizer and other dry abrasiv e materials. Initial testing of v arious thermo-plastic materials w as done in the Canadian Prairies. The first product tested w as the flex section; this w as used to load grain into box cars. Up to this time the industry had been using steel flexes. Ov er a period of 2 y ears it w as determined that UHMW flex sections outlasted steel as much as 6 to 10 times. Later , country elev ators w ere required to load primarily into hopper cars; for this equipment Maljohn dev eloped the first all plastics (UHMW) simple 2 part telescopic spouts. By the mid 1990's Maljohn has supplied 90% of the prairie country elev ators with these lightw eight (30% the w eight of steel counterpart) telescopic spouts made of static reduced TIV AR 88 and TIT ANIUM formulation of UHMW in sizes up to 40” diameter (square or round). For Barge Loading on the Mississippi Riv er , Maljohn now makes 8 part telescopic spouts as large as 40”dia and extending as much as 70 feet. Future, Plans and Purpose Maljohn Plastics Company continues to be an innov ator and dev eloper of sensible, economically sound, practical products for a v ast array of industries. Since our inception w e hav e further branched out to the Pharmaceutical, Mining and Recreational industries. The Maljohn Group is dedicated to our customers needs and requirements continually insuring that our products are dependable, accurately made and deliv ered on time; In North America, South America and Internationally .
