Page 1 16 By Gregory Reynolds Numerous mining companies have exploration projects in and around the T immins area as it remains hot in the eyes of the mineral industry , despite enjoying a record 102 years of gold production. Gold is still the sought after mineral and varying degrees of success have been reported to the Ontario govern - ment. Along with its producing mine and four advanced exploration projects, Lake Shore Gold Corp. has two pros - pects in the exploration category . Exploration continued in 201 1 over the Gold River T rend Property in Thorneloe T ownship. The GR T rend is a fve km long zone of mineral - ization that parallels the Porcupine- Destor Fault, located south of Lake Shore’ s T immins Mine. Lake Shore intersected gold mineralization rang - ing from 1.32 to 254 g/t gold in its diamond drilling program. The other prospect is known as the 144 Property , located to the south - west of Lake Shore Gold’ s T immins Mine. Drilling during 201 1 outlined a lar ge mineralized system similar to the Thunder Creek Rusk and Por - phyry Zones. Signifcant intersections ranged from 1.16 to 4.96 g/t gold. Lake Shore drilled a 3.4 km deep hole on the adjoining T immins W est Meu - nier 144 Property to the west of the T immins Mine. The purpose of the deep hole was to explore for the down-plunge continu - ation of the mine ore body . The drill - ing intersected ultramafc and foot - wall style gold mineralization 2,380 m below the surface. Nebu Resources Inc. has three pros - pects in and near T immins. The Bee - hive Property consists of 1 1 patented mining units in T immins for a total of approximately 440 acres and lies im - mediately to the north of the Nabob (Kennilworth) Mine which operated between 1932 and 1964 producing just over 50,000 ounces of gold. It is reported to still host a resource of 135,500 tons grading 0.25 ounces gold per ton (8.6 g/t Au) in the North Zone and 600,000 tons grading 0.20 ounces gold per ton (6.9 g/t Au) in the South Zone. Nebu acquired the Mallard Property on Feb. 22, 201 1, a highly prospec - tive project located adjacent to the north of T relawney’ s Jerome Prop - erty , and northwest of T relawney’ s Cote Lake Property located between T immins and Gogama. An initial drill program provided en - couraging results, and the company is presently analyzing data compiled from a fall 201 1 geophysics pro - gram. The company also holds a 100 in - terest in the Northern Ontario Bow - man- Hislop Property and is cur - rently awaiting fnal results from the initial exploration program. As of January 18th, 10 holes have been drilled. Initial results indicate sig - nifcant tar gets have been identifed in the area to the west of the nearby historic Canadian Arrow Mine prop - erty recently optioned by Mur gor Resources. Mur gor ’ s frst drill hole at that historic gold producing prop - erty assayed 2.64 g/t gold over a core length of 59 meters.
