2012 Corporate Social Responsibility Report 9 Thunder Bay Disaster Relief On May 27 2012 the City of Thunder Bay and surr ounding ar eas experienced extr emely heavy rainfall that r esulted in sever e fooding and the declaration of a state of emergency The infux of water overwhelmed the capacity of the City s wastewater facility and caused signifcant damage to local ar ea homes Many community members wer e for ced to evacuate the af fected ar eas and seek shelter in local community centr es and chur ches The City r equested the assistance of OCW A s Emergency Response T eam OER T who despite the challenging conditions worked tir elessly in close collaboration with local Thunder Bay operations and fr e department personnel to r estor e the wastewater facility to an operational state OCW A employees acr oss the pr ovince also contributed to the r elief ef forts by raising 1780 which was donated to the community to buy muchneeded supplies and food
