Makuch comm ented: “The results from recent drilling at 144 highlight the signifcant potential to continue to grow and expand the T immins W est Mine operation, includ ing exploring the gap between Thunder Creek and 144 as well as the 144 North and South Zones. Based on the late st results, we have discovered new areas of miner alization in the 144 Gap 850 metres south of Thunder Creek, doubled the depth of Cont’d from pg. 14 known mineral ization at 144 North and intersected new mineralization at 144 South. W e have also gained importan t new information regarding controls for the mineralizat ion and identi fed lar ge syenite stocks at both the 144 North and 144 South areas which are similar to that found at Thunder Creek. The information we are gaining is very valuable and provides encouragement that the lar ge mineralized systems that we are explor - ing along the six kilometre long TC-144 trend will in tim e contribute to the continued strong growth in resources at our T immins W est Mine operation.” The Bell Creek Mine property anchors Lake Shore Gold’ s 32 square kilometre Bell Creek Complex. Of the total National Instrument (NI 43-101) resources at the Bell Creek Complex of 828,800 ounces in the mea sured and indicated categories and 1,122,600 ounces in the inferred catego ry , 646,400 ounces of measured and indicated and 953,800 ounces of inferred are located at Bell Creek Mine, with the majority of ounces being located in the North A Deep Zone, a new zone discovered in 2010. The remaining resources at the Bell Creek Complex are initial, shal - low resources at the nearby V ogel/Schumacher and Marlhill proper - ties. These properties, as well as others, primarily W etm ore, are the other key properties within the Bell Creek Complex land position, all of which have signifcant exploration potential. During the third quarter of 2012, the company’ s mill processed a total of 193,999 tonnes for a record average rate of 2,108 tonnes per day , in excess of the mill’ s current operati ng capacity of 2,000 tonnes per day . The third quarter 2012 throughput level compared to average throughput of 2,013 tonnes per day during the second quarter of 2012 and 1,890 tonnes per day during the third quarter of 201 1. Higher throughput levels compared to the same period in 201 1 lar gely resulted from the availability of more feed from the company’ s mining operations, primarily T immins W est Mine, as well as the impact of greater mill availability , lar gely refecting more ef fective maintenance scheduling and improvements to key parts of the milling circuit. Recoveries at the mill remained strong, reaching a new quarterly record of 97.1% during the third quarter of 2012. The company is currently expanding the Bell Creek Mill to a capacity of 3,000 tonnes per day . The expansion is being completed in two phases, with the frst phase being completed during the fourth quarter of 2012, As a result of completing this phase, capacity at the mill has been increased 25% to 2,500 tonnes per day . The second phase, to take the mill’ s capac - ity to 3,000 tonnes per day , is expected to be completed during the second quarter of 2013. Higher throughput levels will support strong production growth in 2013 and additional growth in 2014. The company has another development, known as the Fenn-Gib Project. It is located approximately 60 kilometres east of T immins along the east extension of the Destor Porcu - pine Fault Zone (DPFZ) and Pipestone Fault Zone (PFZ) near a major dilatent zone. Lake Shore acquired Fenn-Gib in August 201 1 from Barrick Gold Corporation. The project provides the company with signifcant new mining and exploration opportunities, includ - ing the potenti al to establish a lar ge-tonnage, open-pit mining operation in support of its continued rapid growth following the devel - opment of its core T immins assets. On May 1, 2012, signifcant expansions of mineralization were announced to the east and to depth, drilling in untested gaps confrmed expansion potential to the north and west, and multiple new exploration tar gets were identi - fed, all within 1.5 km of the existing resource at Fenn-Gib. That is a fact that the mine’ s present owner , Goldcorp Inc., and the com - munity take great pride in. The mine began production in 1910 and Goldcorp expects to be a major employer in T immins for many more decades. Goldcorp, a leading senior gold pro - ducer operating on three continents, has plac ed its holdings in the Porcu - pine Gold Camp in a subsidiary . Porcupine Gold Mines (Porcupine) consists of two distinct mining opera - tions, Hoyle Pond Under ground and Dome Under ground. As well, there are several lar ge tonnage stockpiles, and a central milling facility . The former famous Hollinger Gold Mine, (1910-1968) will resume life sometime this year after all necessary approvals have been obtained. “These assets, combined with our world-class mill serve to ensure a sustainable future for our employees, their families and our community ,” the company says. In 2012, Goldcorp produced 2.39 million ounces of gold, with Porcu - pine contributing 262,800 ounces of that total. W ith over 800 employees, including contractors, Porcupine is a major employer in T immins. T immins Mayor T om Laughren stresses that the perception that mines are short term operations is wrong. “Every day that the Dome operates reminds us that no one knows how much gold exists in and around T im - mins. Mining is an industry that led to the crea tion of T immins and in 2012 we celebrated our 100th anniversary , disproving the theory that gold min - ing communities are inherently un - stable economically . T immins has a rich past and a bright future based on natural resources.” The mayor said the multi-mil lion dol - lar expansion of the Hoyle Pond op - eration has lengthened its life to 13 years and on-going exploration could extend that estimate. Goldcorp president and CEO Chuck Jeannes said on Jan. 7 that “at Por - cupine, gold production in 2013 is expected to be between 270,000 and 280,000 ounces. The Hoyle Pond Deep project continued to advance to access both depth extensions of cur - rent ore bodies and newly-discovered zones and to enhance fexibility and effciencies throughout the opera - tion.” He added that “progress is steadily advancing on a deep under ground shaft (winze) that will provide in - creased access to recently discovered zones such as the TVZ and V AZ in the under ground Hoyle Pond mine operation and signifcantly extend the mine’ s productive life. Successful exploration drilling at Hoyle Pond has demonstrated im - proving gold grades and the extension of several gold structures at depth. This success is spurring new invest - ments in mine development to posi - tion the revitalized Porcupine mine complex for long-term success.” In the past, the company has said Hoyle Pond contains some of the highest grade of gold ore ever found in the Porcupine Camp. Goldcorp is a leading senior gold pro - ducer with low cost operations and development projects located in polit - ically stable jurisdictions throughout North, Central and South America. It strives to deliver sustainable prosper - ity to its stake¬holders and remains frmly focused on the elements that continue to drive its success: industry leading growth, low cost production, maintaining an outstanding balance sheet, developing operations in low- risk jurisdictions and a commitment to sustainability . The company has 12 operatio ns, pro - ducing gold, silver , copper , lead and zinc, and six development projects.
