S ec t i o n 9 -P a g e5 May 2013 Uses F ASLOC ® has been a leading supplier of polyester r esin cartridges to the mining industry for over 30 years. F ASLOC ® r esin cartridges allow for quick and r epr oducible anchoring of many varieties of bolts and cables. In mine r oof support, F ASLOC ® systems r einfor ce strata, pr oviding str ength and rigidity in untensioned systems, and ensur e a durable anchorage for F ASLOC ® r esin gr outed tensioned bolts. The r einfor cement technique bonds the individual stratifed layers of r ock into a single, high str ength beam. F ASLOC ® r esin cartridge can also be used in many other r einfor cement, stabilization, and anchoring applications. The r eliability of the anchorage system, plus ease of use and minimal r esin setting times, will incr ease pr oductivity and safety . Advantages The pr oprietary F ASLOC ® package has a distinct advantage over other r esin systems due to: • High catalyst/r esin ratio • Uniform installation time • Mixing ef fciency Cartridge Diameters Nominal diameters for both imperial and metric ar e available. Diameters ar e as follows: Cartridge Lengths Cartridges ar e available in lengths fr om 12" to 60". F ASLOC ® Resin Cartridges continued Storage Recommendations For maximum shelf life, F ASLOC ® cartridges should be stor ed away fr om dir ect sunlight in a r easonably cool, well-ventilated, dry ar ea. Storage life is up to 1 year , depending on ambient temperatur e conditions. Under adverse conditions shelf-life is r educed. T o ensur e pr oper storage, the pr oduct should not be subjected to temperatur es in excess of 85°F for pr olonged periods. Storage is r ecommended under cover , on original pallets with adequate ventilation. If stor ed in trailers in hot weather , door should be left ajar or a sun scr een er ected over the trailer . Conversely , while cold storage does not adversely af fect the shelf-life of F ASLOC ® , it should be warmed to a range of 50°- 60°F befor e using to assur e gel times within the specifed range (see Figur e 2). The time r equir ed for cases of F ASLOC ® to warm or cool to ambient temperatur e is dependent on both the initial temperatur e and how the cases ar e stacked. Wher e the initial temperatur e is anywher e between 25° and 85°F , cases will come within 5° of ambient temperatur e in 48 hours when stacked in single columns with 4 sides of each case exposed to the air . Multiple columns should be separated by at least 2" to assist air cir culation between columns.
