In 1947, Donald W aterous, the grandson of Charles W aterous and President since the end of the First W orld W ar , was contemplating his retirement as well as the future of the company . As no family members were qualifed to assume leadership of the company , he accepted an offer to sell the business to Modern T ool Company . In 1952, Modern T ool Company agreed to sell part of W aterous to the Koehring Company , now known as T imberjack. The remainder of the company consisting of the Edmonton and Calgary branches, that had recently acquired the G.M. diesel franchise, were sold to Harold Fry , a former director and shareholder of W aterous Ltd., and his associates. The G.M. diesel portion of Fry’ s newly acquired segment of W aterous was later sold to a V ancouver investor who held it for several years. W ajax acquired W aterous in 1968 from this investor , thus entering into the diesel engine distributorship business.
